Jeremiah 17:7-8

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

We are a community of young people committed to growing in our trust and confidence in Jesus; standing strong in faith in our day and culture, firmly rooted in Jesus and sharing His love with others by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Harbor Youth Ministries exists to make Christ known to young people within our walls and beyond our doors.

It is a safe place to find belonging, discover who Jesus is, how much he loves us, and how to live and serve Him out of the overflow of that love.

This will be accomplished through four “arms” of ministry

Youth Ministry that is executed outside the walls of the church. This arm of the team focuses on reaching the lost in our community and drawing them into relationship with Jesus and into the family of the church. Youth Alpha video series will be our primary method.

Relevant topics and teaching will be brought on a weekly basis to Wednesday meetings to help students gain an understanding of the nature of God, Sin, Salvation, and practical steps to walk out their faith in day-to-day life. Testimonies, Retreats, Conferences and camps will reinforce what we are learning about God. Leaders will model a lifestyle that reflects their own dependence and trust in God. Student will learn a comprehensive Christian Worldview and how to stand firm in their faith and represent Christ to others winsomely.

“The Deep End”- Opportunities before and after school taking place in proximity to the students (Coffee shops- Hastings, CG, and Prescott). Book and Bible studies will be offered to our High school students who want to delve deeper. These smaller groups will have a mentoring component and will focus on individual spiritual growth. High School Students will be encouraged to attend Worldview Summit in Colorado, the summer between their Junior and Senior years or the summer after graduation from High School.

“Teens in Ministry” (1Tim 4:12) are students who have been identified by the youth ministry team as teachable, growing in their relationship with the Lord, aware of their spiritual gifts and ready to serve formally in some capacity inside the church.
Areas of service may include Children’s Ministry, Awana, Technology/Sound booth, Worship Team, or ongoing commitment to Love in Action opportunities. Spiritual Gifts Inventories will be used to help all students grow in giftedness. TIMS will learn the components that make great leaders. They will also be encouraged to attend Global Leadership Summit and other leadership growth opportunities as they arise in their areas of service.

All four veins of youth ministry will embody:
1. Training and modeling a lifestyle of servant-leadership.
2. A focus on knowing God through Scripture. Scripture memory encouraged.
3. Introduction and encouragement to connect personally with God through the spiritual disciplines such as prayer, studying Scripture, journaling, meditation, retreats, etc.
4. Modeling and training students toward a lifestyle of moral purity.
5. Encouraging each student to seek the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and develop skills in the practical, Scriptural use of the supernatural gifts of the Spirit. This includes developing a lifestyle of intercession, spiritual warfare and listening to God.
6. Helping each student discover and develop their unique mix of gifts, talents, and passions to better focus his/her life for future education, career, and ministry so they can live out God’s purpose for their lives.

Fun will be an essential component at each and every gathering and ministry event.
Games: Group games will be used at each youth event or meeting. Our room is setup with activities such as darts, foosball, carpetball and the gym is available from 6:30-7:00pm before our learning time on Wednesdays.
Fun Nights: These will occur monthly to build a sense of belonging and joy into our youth ministries! Those might include outings, game nights, swimming, etc. We may also include a fun trip each year as a youth group.
