Our Core Values
God: Our Center. To understand and obey the Lord’s will for our individual and corporate life is the reason we exist. We are willing to keep growing with God so as to impact our ever-changing culture with the never-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is our Maker and Redeemer. We exist to love, worship and obey Him. He is worthy of our lives and our trust.
People: Our Purpose. Human souls are the only eternal entities on earth. Everything we do must find its ultimate purpose in rescuing souls through the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helping them become fully devoted, reproducing followers of Christ. Membership is based on voluntary commitment to a vision and trust in the leadership, not obligations to an organization.
Biblical World View: Our Perspective. We embrace the Bible, Old and New Testaments, as God’s revealed word describing His character and covenants with human kind. We are committed to the Scriptures and rely on them for doctrine, guidance and authority in all areas of life.
Prayer: Our Power. All natural victories are first won in the spiritual realm through prayer. Prayer is essential and undergirds and empowers everything in God’s Kingdom.
The Body of Christ: Our Context. Unity and cooperation with other local churches and ministries in our area is a high priority because there is really only one church in the Twin Cities and we are a part of it.
Relevance: Our Passion. Change will be normal, necessary, expected and ongoing as God unfolds His agenda for our generation.
Children: Our Privilege. We believe human life is a precious gift from God and that God works effectively through children as well as adults. Children will be nurtured, loved, supported and encouraged to grow in their God-given gifts and released in ministry. Parents will be supported in their responsibility to train up their children in the way they should go.
Relational Health: Our Commitment. We believe that relationships at all levels should be characterized by love, honesty, respect, careful listening and a desire to build one another up. We don’t let little offenses stop us.
Mercy & Justice: Our Responsibility. We believe that Christians are called to faithfully care for the poor, the needy, and the disenfranchised in our communities. We are also committed to bold involvement in issues of truth, justice, equality of races and genders, and environmental issues because these are biblical mandates. In these ways we show God’s nature.
Accountability: Our Need. In addition to the internal governance structure, we have the accountability and support of Harvest Network, an international association of churches and ministers. From this and other relationships, our local leadership has chosen counselors who provide regular third-party input and teaching. They also provide mature, neutral intervention in times of crises.
